Maximizing Kitchen Space: Creative Storage Solutions for Small Kitchens

Some people assume that having a small kitchen means that you will not have the space to efficiently prepare meals or store leftovers and utensils. However, making the best of your small kitchen space is all about being innovative and using your storage space wisely.

Here are just a few creative storage ideas that will allow small kitchen owners to maximize their space.

Magnetic Wall Strips For Utensils

Placing these magnetic strips on kitchen walls or inside cabinets frees up drawer and counter space. They can hold utensils such as knives, other metal utensils, and jars.

Over-The-Sink Cutting Board Or Draining Rack

While some kitchen owners opt to place their cutting boards or draining racks beside the sink, installing them over the sink allows them more room for meal-prepping or drying kitchen supplies.

Make sure to choose those that can comfortably fit above your sink and allow you enough workspace.

Drawer Dividers

These ensure that every utensil has a designated area in drawers and minimize clutter. Drawer dividers can easily store cutlery, utensils, and other small kitchen gadgets in organized sections, and open up additional space in cabinets that would otherwise contain the items.

Overhead Shelves Above The Doorway

Most people do not even give the space in the doorway a second thought to use it as an additional storage room. However, the space can be used to install an overhead shelf to make room for some of the bulkier kitchen items that may not fit in cabinets, such as cookbooks and extra dishes.

A small kitchen does not mean having the storage for all of your culinary needs is impossible. It may just require some creativity to make it a more functional and organized space.
